The Denver Broncos had an eventful offseason and are ready to make a playoff push in the upcoming season. Denver made a game-changing trade by sending tight end Noah Fant, defensive end Shelby Harris, quarterback Drew Lock, two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and a fifth-round pick for star quarterback Russell Wilson and a fourth-round pick.

Wilson elevates the well-rounded roster to become a competitive team in the upcoming season. The Super Bowl-winning QB will make the offense grow exponentially. Last season, he played in 14 games and threw for 3,113 yards along with 25 touchdowns and six interceptions.

With Wilson on the roster, the Broncos will be competing for a playoff spot. However, they are in the toughest division in football in the AFC West. The Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, and Las Vegas Raiders all have teams capable of making a run in the postseason. Getting past their division rivals won't be easy, but the addition of Wilson will help them go toe-to-toe with them.

New head coach Nathaniel Hackett will also be beneficial in turning the team around. Hackett was the offensive coordinator for Matt LaFleur's staff with the Green Bay Packers, helping them contend in the NFC. Green Bay's offense was elite, and Hackett can bring that system to Denver.

Broncos Key Position Group For 2022 NFL Season

Wide Receiver

The wide receiver group for Denver is young and has the potential to grow even more this season. With a major upgrade at quarterback, the wide receiver core will get better opportunities to catch passes.

Courtland Sutton returned from injury last season and had a solid campaign. He caught 58 passes for 776 yards and two touchdowns. Sutton earned a Pro Bowl nod back in the 2019 season and could get back to that level with his new QB.

Third-year receiver Jerry Jeudy may have a breakout season with a reliable quarterback. Drew Lock struggled during his first few seasons, so having a proven quarterback under center will go far for Denver's success. Jeudy was a first-round pick back in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, last season he only appeared in 10 games, catching 38 receptions for 467 yards and zero touchdowns. He is a speedy receiver with great route-running ability. His talent is there and a new offense can maximize his play.

Outside of Sutton and Jeudy, the Broncos have a solid third option at receiver in Tim Patrick. Patrick finished with 53 receptions for 734 yards and five touchdowns. While he is not a top-tier receiver, he can be a solid contributor to the offense. Hackett had success with the Packers' offense with no clear-cut number two receiver behind Adams. This should help get the best out of receivers like Patrick.

They also have KJ Hamler, who could step up as he enters his third campaign. Hamler suffered a torn ACL early last season after a somewhat quiet rookie season. He is still talented and can become a fourth option for Wilson.

The Broncos have a good roster, and Wilson will help them make a run to the playoffs. Having the receiving core step up for him will be vital to get past the rest of the division.
