After a dismal 3-13 season where their offense struggled to produce, the Detroit Lions have gone out and signed a much-needed weapon for quarterback Jared Goff.
Per Ian Rapoport, the team is bringing in former Jacksonville Jaguars wideout D.J. Chark on a one-year deal worth $10 million:
For DJ Chark, it’s a 1-year deal worth $10M fully guaranteed. https://t.co/7cibMVQhxN

The Lions finished 18th in passing yards in 2021 and honestly needed another proven receiver. Amon-Ra St. Brown was about their only bright spot as the rookie had 90 receptions for 912 yards and five touchdowns.
Chark meanwhile, underwent season-ending ankle surgery after Week 4, playing in just four contests and collecting seven catches for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns. However, he did have a couple of decent years prior to last season, posting 1,000+ yards receiving in 2019 to go along with eight TD's. He was named a Pro Bowler as well.
The Lions offense frankly needs any help they can get and adding Chark to the mix is certainly promising. At just 25-years-old, his best years are still ahead of him and he's shown serious potential already during his short time in the NFL. Definitely a terrific signing for Detroit.
D.J. Chark will likely be one of Goff's main targets downfield in 2022 as the team looks to turn things around in the NFC North.
