Detroit Lions second-year cornerback Jeff Okudah's season is officially over after just one game played, as the no. 3 overall pick in last year's draft has been diagnosed with a ruptured achilles, according to the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Okudah suffered the injury during their week 1 41-33 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. He had to be helped off the field and carted to the locker room in the fourth quarter. After the game, Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell feared that the injury was related to the young CB's achilles. Detroit now knows for sure that they'll be without Okudah for the remainder of the season.

Okudah has had poor luck with injuries throughout his young NFL career. He missed seven games of his rookie season with various ailments, most notably a core-muscle issue that also led to season-ending surgery.

Prior to the injury, Okudah looked a bit shaky, allowing a 79-yard scoring reception in Detroit's opener.

“I would say for Jeff, it was an up-and-down game,” Campbell said to the media postgame, prior to Okudah's diagnosis. “He flashes on a few plays and you're like, ‘Whoa, OK, there he is.' The next thing you know, something happens. I don't want to make excuses, but at the same time, he's in Year 2 and he made some young errors. That's what he did.”
