Do you remember when fantasy gurus said to pickup Detroit Lions running back Tra Carson? Scratch that. On Saturday, the Lions placed Carson on the injured reserve, the team announced. In a corresponding move, running back Paul Perkins is a Detroit Lion. Congrats.

The Lions claimed Carson off of waivers after Green Bay parted ways with him three weeks ago. Last week, against the New York Giants, he earned his first career start in his lone game with the Lions. He earned 12 attempts for 34 yards on the day.

Carson sustained a hamstring injury shortly after his first career start. Then, Detroit ended his season with the injured reserve tag. They will be able to release him if they reach on an injury settlement or retain him going forward.

Perkins previously lost his spot on the roster to Carson. After a brief hiatus on the practice squad, the former UCLA Bruin is back on the 53-man roster. The 24-year-old rushed the ball three times for four yards against the Giants. He was originally acquired from waivers via the Giants on Sept. 18.

In 25 games (five starts) with the Giants, Perkins recorded 546 yards on 153 attempts. He also reeled in 23 receptions for 208 yards.

The Lions worked out free agent and former Pro Bowl tailback Jay Ajayi early in the week. However, nothing came out of the visit.

With starter Kerryon Johnson on the injured reserve (knee), the Lions will move forward with Perkins, rookie Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic at the running back position.
