The Detroit Lions still possess the No. 3 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but it's far from a guarantee that they stay put at that spot. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Lions are determined to trade out of the third overall pick.

Since earlier in the offseason, the Lions have made it clear that they are willing to do business for the No. 3 pick. In most mock drafts, it has been expected that Detroit has their sights on taking Jeffrey Okudah, the No. 1 cornerback prospect out of Ohio State.

On the other hand, the Lions could move out of the third overall pick to acquire more draft capital. In the event that Detroit completes a deal for the No. 3 pick, it seems likely that the Miami Dolphins are the prime candidates to acquire the selection.

The Dolphins own three first-round picks, with their earliest one coming at No. 5. On Wednesday night, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reported that the Lions were planning as if they will be making a selection at No. 5. If that report is true, then it's safe to assume that a deal between Detroit and Miami is all but completed.

There are undoubtedly going to be some shocking moves to take place on the first day of the draft on Thursday. However, just as anticipated months ago, the Lions are poised to be moving back in the first round.
