It’s not often that a player wins back-to-back Super Bowls with two different teams, and even less often that they beat their former team in the process of winning that second title. The Philadelphia Eagles pairing of Chris Long and LeGarrette Blount achieved that incredibly rare feat on Sunday when they topped their old teammates on the New England Patriots.

After the game, Long admits that it was a risky move leaving a perennial Super Bowl contender like the Patriots over the offseason, but he credits himself and Blount for making good decisions which have seen them become back-to-back champs.

“You can’t believe it. I don’t think it’s sunk in for me,” Long said per Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk. “We just made good decisions me and ‘LG’. We knew that when we left somewhere like that you might have to live with watching them win and that would be very painful because you left and you know you could be there. When you play your old team like that, you know, hey if we lose this game it’s going to be tough but you never doubt your teammates.”

It’s hard to argue with Long’s assessment about his and Blount’s decision-making. They’ll soon have the flashy jewelry to back that up.

Not many people likely thought they had a shot a winning second-straight title in Philadelphia, especially after Carson Wentz went down with his knee injury. However, credit has to go to the Eagles coaching staff, backup quarterback Nick Foles, and the rest of the team for stepping up to the challenge.

While Long and Blount had the good fortune of picking Philadelphia, there was nothing lucky about the Eagles winning. They fully earned their title.
