Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers spent most of the 2018 NFL season trying to heal from a knee injury but says now that he feels much better as the team enters its offseason.

After suffering a nearly catastrophic injury in the first game of their 2018 season, Rodgers did enough to lead the Packers to a wild victory but was clearly hampered by the knee throughout the season.

Speaking with NFL Network prior to the NFL Honors (via Packers.com), Rodgers said he feels “great” heading into the offseason, and has opted against surgery on the knee.

“My body feels really good,” Rodgers said. “Instead of getting surgery postseason, decided to kind of go through a different routine with my knee than I've done in the past, and I'm feeling really, really good. Got a concussion the last game, that's cleared up. I'm feeling really good. I'm getting back into my workout routine, but the first month of the offseason is a lot about yoga and traveling.”

Not only did his mobility suffer throughout the year, but his ability to throw with the leg injury was brought into question as well, as Rodgers missed passes that he normally made routinely.

While Rodgers was adamant during the season that he felt fine enough to play, it was clear to most watching that he was hurting as the year went on.

Rodgers finished the year with some stellar numbers, posting 4,442 yards, 25 touchdowns, and just two interceptions, but didn’t look the part of the most talented quarterback in the league, as he led the NFL in balls thrown away, and posted a pretty poor 62.3 completion percentage for the season.

When the Packers get back together in April for the start of their offseason program, it will be with a brand new head coach and a mostly new coaching staff. For Rodgers, that brings some excitement to it all.

“A lot of change, in life in general, it’s tough at first,” he said. “But it usually works out for the best so I'm excited about what's going on in Green Bay and the future there.”
