Aaron Rodgers seems to be healing well from a recent bout of back tightness, but it’s still unknown if he’ll play this preseason. According to Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur on Rodgers’ status for the team’s upcoming preseason game, it’s all yet to be determined.

Speaking to the media following the team’s training camp practice, LaFleur wouldn’t say whether or not Rodgers would play in their next game. According to the coach, Rodgers will be a game-time decision, with the team preferring to wait and see how he feels as the week goes on.

The third week of NFL preseason is generally considered to be a dress rehearsal for teams, with most starters playing at least a quarter. However, thanks to Rodgers’ slight injury and the fact that the Packers will be traveling to Winnipeg – and playing on turf – it’s unclear whether or not the team is willing to risk getting its best player hurt. With Rodgers already coming off of an injury-plagued 2018, the team might see it best to simply let him rest and wait for the Packers' opening game against the Chicago Bears.

While it remains to be seen if he plays, Rodgers himself doesn’t seem to feel the need to. Speaking to reporters earlier this week, the superstar quarterback said that the most beneficial thing for him is the reps he gets in practice, so while the team is bringing in a new coach and offensive system, he isn’t too worried about not knowing it when the regular season comes.
