The Green Bay Packers were clicking on all cylinders in their 51-34 preseason win over the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. Unfortunately, they were unable to get a look at running back Jamaal Williams after he was forced to leave the game with what he felt was a dirty hit.

Fortunately, he was not knocked out for too long. According to ESPN's Jason Wilde, Williams was seen taking part in practice for the first time since suffering the ankle injury:

Probably not a good sign for Friday’s game at Oakland, but a good sign overall: Packers RB Jamaal Williams (ankle) isn’t in pads but he’s taking handoffs from athletic trainer Nate Weir and seems to be moving quite fluidly (in my non-medical professional opinion).

It is encouraging to see that the ankle injury does not seem to be too severe. However, it remains to be seen whether or not Williams will be good to go for this week's matchup against the Oakland Raiders. His potential absence will make it even more difficult for him to etch out a role in this offense by the time the regular season rolls around.

Green Bay selected Williams in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He capitalized on the Packers' injury-riddled backfield and showed plenty of promise with his versatile skill set. Williams finished the year with 556 yards and four touchdowns on the ground while hauling in 25 receptions for 262 yards and two touchdowns. He is set to compete for quality touches despite the return of running back Ty Montgomery and the emergence of running back Aaron Jones.
