The Green Bay Packers clinched a postseason berth on Sunday in their home win against the Chicago Bears in Week 15. After the Los Angeles Rams lost to the Dallas Cowboys, the Packers are officially back in the playoffs after missing the postseason in 2017 and 2018. This is a step forward for first-year head coach Matt LaFleur, who succeeded longtime coach Mike McCarthy.

LaFleur's team does not have their playoff matchup yet—they could be hanging on to one of the Wild Card spots or win the division depending on the remaining performance of the Minnesota Vikings—but Green Bay is secured another chance at chasing a Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers under center.

The 40-year-old rookie head coach already has the franchise's record for most wins by a first-year coach and making the playoffs in his first year is another achievement for LaFleur, per Packers Wire.

The previous record-holders for most wins by a Packers first-year head coach were Mike Sherman and Mike Holmgren at nine apiece.

Whatever happened between Rodgers and McCarthy does not seem to be reappearing in this coach-quarterback relationship under LaFleur, who expressed “full trust” in the former Super Bowl MVP.

“I have full trust in Aaron [Rodgers]. He’s seen enough during his career. I trust he’ll make the right call.”

While the Packers' offense has not been exactly humming at its elite potential (they scored a combined 41 points in the last two weeks against the Bears and Washington Redskins), LaFleur's team has the pieces in place to be true contenders in the NFC.
