Following yet another disappointing loss, the Green Bay Packers pulled the trigger on letting go of head coach Mike McCarthy on Sunday afternoon.

This is a move that had long had the tea leaves shown that it was only a matter of time before the franchise was going to part ways with McCarthy. In response to the move, Hall of Famer Troy Aikman took to Twitter to voice his frustrations with the move stating that McCarthy deserved better treatment than to be let go during the season.

Although things have gone a bit sideways over the last couple of years, McCarthy has brought some tremendous stability at the top for the Packers as he has helped lead the team to a lot of success during his 12-year tenure. As Aikman pointed out, the Packers had made the playoffs nine times under him with four NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl win. McCarthy has plenty of coaching pedigree to go out in a more respectable manner.

Prior to this week's loss, the Packers were already in a tight spot with reaching the playoffs being quite bleak. Waiting until the end of the season wasn't too much to ask for at this point as Green Bay is in a situation where there needs to be more shaking up beside a coaching change. This was just a part of the potential equation to turn things around that the team felt was needed to do so ahead of time.

It may not have been the most respectful manner given what he has accomplished with the franchise, but it does give him a head start of finding his next gig in the NFL. There should plenty of suitors lining up to bring him as their next head coach due to his resume over the last decade-plus.
