The Green Bay Packers should certainly still be focused on a possible Super Bowl run given that they sit atop the NFC North standings. However, it's still fascinating to think about the possibilities of what they can add to their team in the offseason.

One player in the 2020 NFL Draft that would be particularly intriguing for the Packers would be Penn State wide receiver K.J. Hamler. He racked up an impressive 858 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns on 54 receptions for the Nittany Lions.

The individual excellence that Hamler provided Penn State was the best part of the team's 2019 season. According to Mark Wogenrich of The Morning Call, Hamler produced 16 plays that featured yardage gains of 20 yards or longer this season. He also displayed a real ability to take over in clutch time by demanding the ball on a crucial 3rd and 3 to defeat Michigan.

Receiver KJ Hamler made 16 plays of 20 yards or longer this season, but his biggest covered just 4. On a vital play late against Michigan, Hamler took a handoff in the backfield and converted a 3rd-and-3 to seal a 28-21 victory. “Give me the ball,” Hamler said during a Michigan timeout, and it worked.

As things currently stand, the Packers only have one receiver that has produced over 500 receiving yards so far this season. For reference, Davante Adams has totaled 644 receiving yards with Marquez Valdes-Scantling (427 yards) behind him. Meanwhile, the player with the third-most receiving yards is running back Aaron Jones (367 yards). Adding an explosive wide receiver from the draft into the mix would be intriguing.

The explosive speed that the 5'9″ receiving threat brings to the table makes him a real difference-maker on the field. It's difficult for defenders to track him down when he gets the ball in space as he has been clocked in by Penn State coaches as running a 4.28-second 40-yard dash. In addition, he can make defenders miss with his quickness, too.

“We all know that he’s a difference-maker,” Penn State coach James Franklin said, via Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated. “More times KJ can touch the ball, we’re going to like what happens.”

The Packers have produced 30 passing plays this season over 25 yards or more (5th) and managing to add a dynamic receiver like Hamler into the mix would only make them more dangerous in this regard. With a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers leading the charge, that should give opposing teams nightmares.

There is still a lot of time before the NFL Draft and there is a real possibility that K.J. Hamler's performance at the NFL Draft Combine could boost his stock. Regardless, if the Packers have a real chance to draft the speedy Penn State receiver, they should look to do it.
