The Indianapolis Colts received some good news this week in regards to Andrew Luck's status moving forward. The three-time Pro Bowler was finally seen throwing a football on the field and let it be known that he will be under center for Indianapolis come Week 1 in September when they face the Cincinnati Bengals at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Although Luck appears to be well on his way to getting back to normal and stabilizing the Colts offense once again, there is one glaring concern for the franchise. Luck has had some issues throwing a regulation football, and it's not a physical problem but rather a mental one, via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Luck admitted that, during his still-ongoing rehab, he had a “little mental block” to throwing a regulation football.
This is not a good sign, especially coming from such an intelligent football player. Physical issues are something football players have to deal with throughout their NFL careers as every player gets hurt at some point. That's just a product of the physicality of the game, but the mental side can be much more damaging, especially for a quarterback.
Luck hasn't played a down in the NFL since 2016. That's an incredibly long time for any player let alone a franchise quarterback like Luck. It will be no easy task for the star gunslinger to get back to form and as he tries to help lead this team back into playoff contention after a forgettable four-win season for Indianapolis.
