Week 3 of the preseason is seen as a crucial time for many teams to get a good look at their starters. It appears Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich will be taking a different approach.
Reich had initially planned on using the same approach he had all preseason. According to Stephen Holder of The Athletic, he has decided to sit out most of his starters against the Chicago Bears on Saturday.

Although Reich's decision may come as a surprise, it certainly makes sense given that the current state of the team's health. Rather than looking to work on a few things in the preseason, he has opted to ensure that the Colts will be at full strength for the start of the 2019 NFL season.
The biggest concern for them at the moment is the return of quarterback Andrew Luck. Luck has been sidelined throughout training camp and the preseason while recovering from a lingering calf/ankle injury. While Indianapolis still has yet to set a clear timetable on his return, he did manage to dispel the notion of it being a prolonged injury by getting some pregame work in prior to the Colts matchup with the Cleveland Browns.
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay seemingly set a new precedent by sitting most his starters out of the preseason entirely. It seems other teams like the Colts are starting to adopt this approach albeit on a lesser scale.
