Jacoby Brissett is the new man behind the line of scrimmage for the Indianapolis Colts. Inheriting a strong team after Andrew Luck's surprise retirement is not the hardest thing in the world. However, making yourself beloved in a city that lives and breathes football could be hard.

This is why his latest revelation as the Colts' first-choice QB should make plenty of fans fall in love with his personality. He revealed that he doesn't like anyone else but him taking care of his contract negotiations.

He sat down with CBS 4 Indianapolis' Mike Chappell and confirmed that he was the one who talked with the Colts and worked into getting his new contract extension sorted.

“Yeah, I do it myself,’’ Brissett said Tuesday. “I don’t like people to BS on my behalf. I try to say it for myself. . . . all you can be is honest.

“I did my rookie contract, too, so I kind of had the gist of it.’’

Brissett is now earning $15 million yearly and is expected to earn more as the days go by. Getting such a big contract is a huge confidence boost for him.

“I thought they supported me all along,’’ Brissett said. “I think that’s a question for them. I’m obviously grateful beyond words for this opportunity, for the Irsay family and the team from trusting. It’s hard to put that part in words.”

The former North Carolina State QB showcased in his first year with the Colts why he is worth the squeeze for Jim Irsay. He averaged 3,098 passing yards in 2017, completing 59% of his 469 pass attempts. While his QB rating was at a shoddy 41.5 that year, there's no question that he will improve as he gets more snaps.

Fans are eager to see how their new QB1 will perform in the post-Luck era. They hope that his do-it-yourself attitude can help them get a Super Bowl.
