The Jacksonville Jaguars are currently on the brink of beginning a new era as they were awarded lucrative draft selections after finishing with a league-worst 1-15 record in the 2020 NFL season. In the 2021 NFL Draft, they hit the ground running by selecting Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick along with his college teammate in running back Travis Etienne Jr. with the 25th pick.

Even though the Jaguars made good decisions with their selections in the 2021 NFL Draft, they still have to make an extra effort in order to grab under-the-radar impact players for next season. They went on to sign a total of six undrafted free agents who will all compete for a spot in the team's Week 1 roster in training camp.

Out of all the talents on the list, Alabama linebacker Dylan Moses could possibly have the best shot at securing a roster spot with the Jaguars. In fact, his college head coach in Nick Saban was caught by surprise after he slid down the draft boards and went undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Saban's reaction to the news definitely spoke volumes about the level of talent that Moses possesses. Despite this, there has been evidence as to why no team dared to take a chance on Moses in the draft proceedings. The first area of concern is his injury history back in college as he broke his foot back in 2017 and eventually suffered a torn ACL injury two years later.

After missing his entire junior season, Moses then had to play out his senior year while nursing the pain. He appeared in 12 games and recorded 76 total tackles, a sack, and an interception in 2020. Due to his injury history, he never got to live up to the billing of a highly-touted five-star recruit out of high school when he first arrived in Tuscaloosa back in 2017.

Despite his struggles, there is still a good chance that Moses can succeed at the next level. He continues to possess a high level of athleticism and physicality which will enable him to match up against stronger opponents in the league. Back in college, he also had stints in playing all three linebacker positions which allude to his game's versatility and will help him to adjust better in the league.

Aside from his on-field potential, Moses is also seen by many as a high-character individual in the locker room as he previously served as one of the team captains of Saban's Crimson Tide squad. The experiences that he gained as a leader of one of the nation's best collegiate teams will definitely give him an edge and allow him to potentially land a roster spot with the Jaguars.

If he manages to do so, he will most likely serve as a backup to veteran Joe Schobert who is playing at the middle linebacker position. Prior to the 2020 season, he inked a five-year, $53.75 million contract with the Jaguars and went on to produce 141 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, and three interceptions through 16 appearances.

Even with Schobert's applaudable numbers last season, having Moses in the team's roster will allow the Jaguars to have flexibility in the event that the veteran's level of play declines next season. For the incoming rookie, he will have to keep himself in the pink of health while also maximizing the opportunities in training camp in order to successfully land a Week 1 roster spot with the Jaguars.

If Dylan Moses manages to perform well, there is no doubt that head coach Urban Meyer will have a solid prospect who can eventually emerge as a contributor for the Jaguars in the years to come.
