There has been plenty of people within the NFL who have expressed their disdain for games in London and you can add Jacksonville Jaguars' head coach Doug Marrone to that list. While speaking to the media on Wednesday, Marrone was candid about how frustrating it is to play in London.
“It's awful, you get discombobulated,” Marrone said. “You don't know what's up and what's down, if it's daylight, nighttime. It's brutal. I'm glad I've done it before. I've got this secret I don't tell anyone and we work on it as coaches.
“But I think it's awful for people who haven't done it before. You feel bad. You want to throw up. You have diarrhea. There's a lot of things bad that go on.”
Ever since the NFL began doing games in London, the Jaguars have played in quite a few of them. Therefore, Marrone is accustomed to dealing with the different circumstances that come with playing overseas.
Playing in London is vastly different than playing in the United States due to the time change, environment, and other factors. The game between the Jaguars and Houston Texans on Sunday counts as a home game for Jacksonville.
For coaches, most of them aren't content with sacrificing one of their home games for playing in London. Nevertheless, the NFL isn't going to end their series of games overseas just because a couple of coaches or players disapprove of it.
As bad as it may get for the Jaguars and Texans, hopefully no one gets quite as sick as Marrone described while in London.
