Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marqise Lee missed the entire 2018 season as a result of a preseason knee injury that ultimately required surgery. But, the Jaguars are expecting Lee back before the start the 2019 campaign.

According to Daniel Popper of The Athletic, Jacksonville head coach Doug Marrone said that he expects Lee to return late in the preseason, which would obviously put him on track to play in Week 1.

Prior to getting injured last August, Lee was fresh off signing a four-year, $38 million contract extension with the Jaguars after hauling in 56 receptions for 702 yards and three touchdowns the previous season.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Southern California, was originally selected by the Jags in the second round (39th pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 13 contests during his rookie campaign, catching 37 passes for 422 yards and a score. Then, the following year, Lee participated in just 10 games due to a nagging hamstring injury, snaring 15 balls for 191 yards and a score.

The Long Beach, Ca. native then finally had his breakout year in 2016, playing a full 16 games and registering 63 catches for 851 yards and three touchdowns.

When healthy, Lee is a fine wide out, but staying on the field has obviously been a big problem for him thus far in his NFL career.

The Jaguars are coming off of an incredibly disappointing 2018 season in which they won just five games, one year after winning the AFC South division title and making it all the way to the AFC Championship Game before falling to the New England Patriots.
