The Jacksonville Jaguars headed into the offseason without much of a plan at tight end. Maybe they had one in place, but with the players currently on the roster, most NFL observers had to assume that plan involved adding someone before the start of the regular season.
Jacksonville did just that, drafting tight end Josh Oliver in the third round (69th overall pick) of the 2019 NFL Draft.
However, bad news has hit the team — specifically Oliver, who went down with an injury. According to Michael DiRocco of ESPN,that injury appears to be significant.
Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said the hamstring injury that rookie TE Josh Oliver suffered Thursday is significant and could keep him out for a while. "These hamstring things, is it a serious one? It is," Marrone said. "… i don't know how he heals. I… https://t.co/GSuYH2UO6Y

The Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL in 2018. The didn't have nearly the success they enjoyed in 2017 and lost a step in every category.
However, the addition of Nick Foles at quarterback this offseason has brought back some energy and could turn things back around.
Article Continues BelowOne thing that was blatantly missing was tight end. Jacksonville's trio of Ben Koyack, James O'Shaughnessy and Geoff Swaim doesn't stand out as threatening.

A “significant” hamstring injury tempers the excitement surrounding him. There's still a lot of time before the start of the regular season. However, this limits Oliver's opportunities to prepare and get used to his surroundings. It could severely stunt his development for the time being.
With all that being said, all that's known is that the injury is significant and he'll miss time. Maybe Oliver could still be ready for the fourth preseason game just before Labor Day. Maybe he will miss a lot of regular season time. It's too early to tell; we don't have all the facts.
What we do know is that the Jacksonville Jaguars will have to wait for a while before they get to see rookie tight end Josh Oliver in action again.
