After sharing some cryptic social media posts earlier this week, Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith announced earlier this afternoon that he will sit out the entire 2019 NFL season.

In an Instagram post shared on the linebacker's account, he notes that although he loves football, he’s going to be taking a break from the game in order to “get my world in order.”
Article Continues Below“It was said to me from a great coach that in order for the man to be his best, he must get his world in order,” the post read. “At this time, I must take time away from the game and get my world in order. I must give this time back to myself, my family and my health. I appreciate all the support I will and will not get. I just ask y’all respect my decision to not play football this season. I know the rumors of trade talk came about, but I started my career in Jacksonville and the day I do decide to call it quits it will be right here in Duval. I love y’all and even in my time off it’s #10toesdwn ya feel me!!! Love!”
Of course, if something serious is going on with Smith, then he should take all of the time he needs, but it seems as if he is certainly not going to be part of the Jaguars' plan for 2019. Smith has so far played in 69 career games, tallying 586 tackles, 7.5 sacks, nine interceptions, and 26 pass breakups while earning a Pro Bowl berth in 2017.
Despite the message of love and hope for the future, Smith hasn’t made many friends in the Jaguars organization for his antics earlier this year. When Smith sat out voluntary workouts and made little to no communication with the team, general manager Dave Caldwell was noncommittal when asked about his future with the team.
