Nick Foles has long been considered the most likely quarterback to lead the Jacksonville Jaguars next season, but what if the Jaguars don't end up with Foles? Who will they turn to at that point?

Well, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, another option could be Miami Dolphins signal-caller Ryan Tannehill, who will almost certainly be released or traded this offseason.

Florio adds that, in that scenario, Tannehill would not immediately be named the opening-day quarterback and would instead have to compete for the starting job.

Tannehill is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he made just 11 starts due to a shoulder injury, throwing for 1,979 yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine interceptions while completing 64.2 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 92.7.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Texas A&M University, was originally selected by the Dolphins with the eighth overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He started all 16 games during his rookie season, throwing for 3,294 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 13 picks while completing 58.3 percent of his passes and recording a passer rating of 76.1.

The following year, Tannehill finished with 3,913 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions, posting a completion percentage of 60.4 percent and a passer rating of 81.7.

From that point forward, Tannehill essentially plateaued as a quarterback, and in 2017, he missed the entire season due to a torn ACL.

He wouldn't exactly be the best route for Jacksonville to take, but if Foles goes elsewhere, the Jags may not have much of a choice, as it would then basically be a situation where they might have to stick with Blake Bortles if they can't find anyone else.
