The Kansas City Chiefs play their first game of the NFL regular season on Sunday. That Week 1 matchup is against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Last season, Kansas City became one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL. The offense was absolutely unstoppable, and it led to a 12-4 record, the best in the AFC.
However, 2019 is a new year. How will they start the new campaign? The Jaguars are known for their stingy defense and could hold the Chiefs in check.
Or, Kansas City could light them up.
What will happen? Here are four bold predictions for the Kansas City Chiefs versus the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Defense Records 3-plus Turnovers

The Offense of the Kansas City Chiefs gets all the hype, and that makes a lot of sense. They were nearly unstoppable, while the defense allowed over 400 yards per game.
However, you can't completely blame the defense. The offense scored so much that the defense was on the field a good amount. The Chiefs are bound to give up a lot of yards and points. Yet, it also means they could pick up many turnovers.
The Jacksonville Jaguars made the switch to Nick Foles this offseason. He's better than Blake Bortles and should limit the turnovers, but the hype surrounding him after the Super Bowl run in 2017 has died down considerably. He is not a superstar quarterback.
With minimal weapons, that could be exposed quickly this year. He'll be on the field a lot on Sunday and likely will try to come back from a deficit. That means he'll need to air it out. Although he'll limit turnovers on the season, he'll have a bad start in Week 1.
Foles will likely throw a pair of interceptions, and the Jags will lose at least one fumble, giving them three turnovers. This will essentially lock up a victory for Kansas City.
LeSean McCoy Has a Big Play

The Kansas City Chiefs seemed ready to head into the season with Damien Williams as the starting running back. Darwin Thompson and Darrel Williams were set for solid roles as well.
Damien Williams is still the starter, and Thompson should get some run. However, the addition of LeSean McCoy changes things.
McCoy is new to the offense (and the team), but he is a perfect fit. He's a fast-pace player, great in the open field and dangerous as a pass catcher, literally the perfect match for Patrick Mahomes.
McCoy will prove that by sparking the offense with a big play. Just to be clear, I'm talking 40-plus yards.

Speaking of Patrick Mahomes, he was absolutely ridiculous last year. He transcended what a lot of people thought a first-year starting quarterback could do.
However, that has also led to some doubt. It's hard to live up to what he did last year. To duplicate those numbers would be remarkable, right?
Many are expecting the numbers to regress and you can't blame them. Now he is facing a great defense in Week 1. The Jacksonville Jaguars could be the perfect defense for those “he'll take a step backwards this year” people.
Struggling against the Jaguars defense isn't uncommon, so why can't Mahomes. He'll show no signs of regression. There will be the big plays, the electric plays and the crazy precision he gets on his passes.
Mahomes proved to be the total package last year and he won't do anything to make you doubt that in Week 1.
Kansas City Chiefs Win Big

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be good this year. I truly believe that. The defense is legit and Nick Foles is a steady hand that can keep the offense moving. Meanwhile, Leonard Fournette is in the best shape of his career.
However, things will get off to a bumpy start. Foles is still new to the team, and even the best defense will have moments of weakness against the unreal Kansas City Chiefs' offense.
Patrick Mahomes will be on the top of his game, and the defense will improve. The Jaguars might be able to put up a fight, but the Chiefs will have a commanding lead by halftime and won't look back.
