Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt is facing a lengthy spell on the sideline, and not just because of the incident which saw him punch and kick a woman in February.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Hunt is also being investigated by the NFL for an incident in which he allegedly punched a man in the face in June.
The baseline penalty for violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy has been a six-game suspension. But as Rapoport reports, the NFL is believed to have found enough in that second incident in June to lengthen Hunt's ban.
Article Continues BelowHunt was placed on the Reserve/Commissioner Exempt List shortly after his release on Friday following footage of the February incident going public. His suspension won’t kick in until he’s been removed from the said list, which means that apart from missing the rest of this season, he could also miss a big chunk of the 2019 season.
It would certainly be a huge black mark on Hunt’s personal record if he is found to have committed not one but two violent acts in the span of just a few months. That is troubling behavior that would concern any team interested in his services despite his undoubted talent as a player.
Hopefully, he can seek some help in order to curb those violent tendencies. And if this recent report is accurate, he’ll have a lot of time to get that help because he likely won’t be back on the field for a long time.
