The Las Vegas Raiders managed to secure some heavy firepower in the form of wide receiver Henry Ruggs. It appears even tight end Darren Waller is impressed with the burst he has seen from the rookie.
According to Vic Tafur of The Athletic, Waller came up with quite the simile to describe Ruggs' speed.
Darren Waller says @__RUGGS is “as fast as a roach when you put the lights on.”

For those that have not had the misfortunate of knowing just how fast that is, it is almost instantaneous. Of course, this was to be expected from Ruggs after posting the fastest 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine with a 4.27.
Head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock have acknowledged that Ruggs' speed is what served as a determining factor for them to make him the first receiver taken in the 2020 NFL Draft with the 12th overall pick. They are hoping it will pay huge dividends for their efforts to keep up with the Kansas City Chiefs' high-powered offense in the AFC West.
The Raiders have Waller serving as the top option in the passing game for quarterback Derek Carr. He is coming off a breakout 2019 campaign that saw him register 90 receptions for 1,145 yards and three touchdowns. The presence of Ruggs should help open things up even more now that defenses are forced to acknowledge the deep threat.
It is safe to say that Las Vegas has high hopes for the rookie heading into the 2020 NFL season. Fortunately, Waller's comments indicate that Ruggs has had no problem turning heads in training camp.
