Antonio Brown is getting a fresh start with the Oakland Raiders, leaving the drama that surrounded him toward the end of his nine-year tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers behind.
Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has been working with Brown ever since Oakland acquired the wideout in a trade with the Steelers last month, and he likes what he has seen from Brown thus far:
“Nothing has surprised me because I've known him since a couple years ago at the Pro Bowl,” Carr said during a live chat session on YouTube. “I knew how hard he worked, I knew he was a great guy, loves his family, loves God. I knew those things. I think something that would surprise other people is how down to earth he is. People just see him spitting facts all of the time and certain things, but Brown is so down to earth that he came to my son's birthday party. I told him, ‘hey, we have a birthday party going on for my son. I won't be here this day and this day,' and he was like, ‘I'm coming!'”
Carr added that Brown brought a family atmosphere when he arrived at his son's birthday party:
“The man just brought his family, and they hung out, and it was family. Family atmosphere. All my teammates know they are allowed to come to my house whenever, come to anything whenever. Obviously, my house so they can get dunked on in my pool, but that will be for another time. He's just really down to earth.”
While Brown is definitely an eccentric guy, he does have a fun-loving attitude much of the time, so the dynamic between him and Carr should certainly be interesting.
