The Oakland Raiders are looking for some depth in their backfield, so they have worked out free-agent running back Charcandrick West, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

West signed with the Kansas City Chiefs late in the 2018 campaign, joining the club in December. However, he hardly played, tallying just two carries in three games.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Abilene Christian, went undrafted but landed with the Chiefs in 2014.

He appeared in six contests during his rookie campaign, but did not touch the football. The following season, West developed a rather significant role within Kansas City's offense, rushing for 634 yards and four touchdowns while averaging four yards per carry. In addition, he hauled in 20 receptions for 214 yards and a score.

Then, in 2016, West's role began to shrink, as he totaled just 293 yards while reaching the end zone once on the ground, catching 28 passes for 188 yards and a couple of touchdowns.

West then finished with 72 yards and a pair of scores as a rusher in 2017, also snaring 27 balls for 150 yards while finding the end zone twice as a receiver.

The Cullen, La. native then signed with the New York Jets last August, but lasted only a week with the club before being cut shortly before the 2018 campaign began.

He was then out of football for three months before signing back with the Chiefs.

The Raiders are coming off of a season in which they won just four games. They have made the playoffs just once since last making the Super Bowl all the way back in the 2002-03 campaign.
