Just before the 2017 NFL Draft, Ohio State cornerback Gareon Conley was accused of raping a woman in a hotel, and it created some doubts about his draft position. The Oakland Raiders corner Conley was never charged with rape but faced a civil lawsuit from the woman because she “sustained serious physical, psychological, emotional and mental injuries.”

Now Conley is fighting back, and doing a counter lawsuit against the woman. According to TMZ Sports Conley is suing because:

The “false” allegations seriously damaged his reputation, hurt his draft stock and cost him multiple endorsement deals “including a contract with Nike.”

Conley claims the woman pressured him for sex the night in question, but he turned her down, and that made her embarrassed, and that's why she made the false claims. He is looking for a payout of no less than $25,000 for the damages that the woman has caused.

Conley ended up being drafted with the 24th pick in the first round by the Raiders, even with the uncertainty that changes could still have been coming his way.

Conley dealt with an injured shin most of last year and only appeared in two games. New coach Jon Gruden has high hopes for what Conley will be able to do this year.

“It's been a dark world that he's been in, this young man,” Gruden said last month of Conley via ESPN. “He's had a terrible injury he had to rehab from, he's had to change coaches, learn a new system, and it's been a slow and steady process. But, man, is he a good player. When he's feeling good, you can see why we picked him [in the first round].”
