All of a sudden, the Oakland Raiders are 3-2 entering their bye week. The season — after a drama induced offseason — has yielded excellent results to a Raiders squad that went 4-14 in 2018; coach Jon Gruden can't help but feel good about that.
In London, Gruden's Raiders prevailed to beat the Bears, despite a second-half, 21-point comeback by Chicago. They did so as underdogs and capped off the win by a long, 97-yard drive finished off by a Josh Jacobs touchdown run.
The Raiders were up by 17 at the half but saw themselves down by four entering their final possession. However, in culmination, the team won 24-21. That is something to feel good about for Gruden.
“We have a pretty good feeling right now,” Gruden said on Sunday, via Vic Tafur of The Athletic.
The Raiders' performance on Sunday wasn't pretty, but as Al Davis says, “just win baby!” They certainly did that. The leader of their win came from a rookie, in Jacobs, who recorded the game-winning touchdown. The former Alabama standout recorded 123 yards and two touchdowns on 26 attempts.
What made their win better? Beating the team that now pays Khalil Mack's salary. Even better: Jacobs was selected with a pick Chicago sent to Oakland.
In all, the Raiders are entering their bye week as a competitive team. Through the first three games of their five-game away span, they are 2-1. Though the Kansas City Chiefs sit on top of their AFC West division, they are certainly knocking on the door. Next up: the Green Bay Packers in Week 7.
