The Oakland Raiders have said that they are committed to Derek Carr as their starting quarterback heading into next season, but Peter King of NBC Sports is reporting that Raiders head coach Jon Gruden is very interested in University of Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray.
There was some speculation earlier on the offseason that Oakland, which owns the fourth overall pick in the NFL Draft next month, could express some interest in Murray, and it looks like that is coming to fruition.
Murray is considered one of the most intriguing prospects we have seen in quite some time.
A multi-sport athlete, Murray was also selected by the Oakland Athletics in the first round of the MLB Draft last June, but it appears that he is leaning toward football.
This past season, the 21-year-old threw for 4,361 yards, 42 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 69 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 199.2.

While some have pointed out Murray's lack of size as a question mark, others feel that his freakish athleticism and ability to make plays from all over the field will negate his small stature in the NFL.
With more traditional quarterbacks like Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins and Duke's Daniel Allen also expected to gain plenty of interest in the first round, Murray is definitely a wild card.
The Raiders are coming off of a 2018 campaign in which they won just four games. Oakland has made the playoffs just once since last making the Super Bowl during the 2002-03 season.
