The Oakland Raiders are off to a bit of a rough start out of the gate to the 2018 campaign, dropping their first three games to put them in an early-season hole. During this stretch, Pro Bowl quarterback Derek Carr has made some untimely interceptions in the fourth quarter that have contributed greatly to his team's shortcomings. With that in mind, head coach Jon Gruden voiced on Monday that he believes Carr is being too aggressive with his throws in tight situations late in games, according to Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area.

“I thought we were too aggressive,” Gruden said in his Monday press conference. “I think at times he is trying too hard. We will talk about that extensively here in the next couple of hours, but I thought he played really good under some very tough circumstances. I think sometimes he needs to learn a little bit more patience, and I think he will.

There is much truth to this, as Carr has thrown some huge interceptions that have handicapped his team from getting the upper hand late in games. The aggressive nature of his decision making has the right intentions, but it has come in spots where it was unnecessary to go that route to put Oakland ahead.

It should be noted that the Raiders have also decided to go for it on fourth down twice late in the fourth quarter over the last two games, failing to convert each time to keep key drives alive. Beyond that, it is clear that the Raiders' record isn't truly indicative of where they stand as a team, as they are just a play or two away from holding a winning record through the first three weeks.

There is plenty of time for Carr to help lead the team in the right direction to contend for a playoff spot, but it has to start now.
