The Las Vegas Raiders are looking for ways to ensure their first season at the Allegiant Stadium would be a success to build a loyal fan base. In order to do that, they need a competent quarterback. Fortunately for them, Cam Newton is looking for a new team to join.
The former league MVP was cut by the Carolina Panthers after injuries damaged his value as a QB. Bleacher Report's Mike Freeman talked about the possibility of Newton going to Las Vegas among a myriad of other choices. Freeman approached an AFC assistant coach for an expert opinion on the matter, and he believes the Raiders would be able to make the playoffs with Newton under their employ.
“They'd make the playoffs with him at quarterback.”
It's easy to see why the assistant highly rates Newton to make an immediate impact on the team. The Raiders had a subpar season where they narrowly missed making the playoffs. While Derek Carr is a capable quarterback, he doesn't have the breadth of experience Newton has. Newton is also arguably more talented than Carr since he led the Panthers to an appearance at Super Bowl 50.
The question now lies on whether Cam Newton will be able to recover properly from the myriad of injuries he sustained. One of the reasons why Newton was released by the Panthers is due to his health. He barely played last season, and his condition is a legitimate concern for the Raiders and the rest of the teams interested in his services.
