The Oakland Raiders continue to stay hot in terms of adding — and retaining — talent to the roster ahead of the 2019-20 season. After recently adding veteran wide receiver Antonio Brown via trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Raiders have now reportedly turned their attention to the defensive side of the football.

According to a Sunday evening report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Raiders have agreed to sign veteran defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins to a two-year deal. However, the financial details surrounding the newly inked pact have yet to come to light.

Prior to coming to terms with the Raiders over the weekend, Hankins was set to become an unrestricted free agent when the new league year officially kicks off on Wednesday. The 26-year-old defender registered the second-most defensive snaps among Raiders defensive linemen this past season while originally joining the AFC West franchise ahead of the team's Week 2 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

Johnathan Hankins finished the 2018-19 campaign with two fumble recoveries, four tackles for loss, and 36 total tackles under his belt.

The Raiders struggled mightily in 2018-19 while notably parting ways with some serious talent along the way. Although the Raiders now own a slew of first round draft picks in the coming years, the AFC West franchise previously traded away wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys and pass rusher Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears. Even so, Oakland is back to adding talent rather than subtracting it, with the recent addition of the aforementioned Brown proving that point to be true.
