The Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for a gold old-fashioned AFC West showdown on Sunday in a game that has playoff implications for both sides.

The Raiders and playoff implications in the same sentence? You bet.

Oakland is coming off of a horrendous loss to the New York Jets, but it is 6-5 and is still just one game behind the Chiefs for first place in the division.

Meanwhile, Kansas City would probably like to start putting a bow on the AFC West now before things get messy.

So, here are four things to watch in this Week 13 battle at Arrowhead Stadium, plus a prediction.

4. The mental fortitude of the Raiders

The Raiders had a golden opportunity to not only set themselves up to take sole possession of first place in the division heading into this week, but to maintain their grasp of sole possession of the AFC's second Wild Card spot last weekend.

Instead, Oakland was routed by the Jets to the tune of 34-3.

This is a largely inexperienced club, so it will be interesting to see how the Raiders respond, especially in such a harsh environment.

If Oakland wins this game, it could build significant momentum over the final four weeks.

3. The production of Darren Waller

Over his first six games of the season, Raiders tight end Darren Waller caught 44 passes. In five contests since then, he has logged just 15.

That is a significant dropoff in production, and it's something that needs to change going forward for Oakland, especially with wide receiver Hunter Renfrow being out.

Waller is an incredibly physically gifted player who flashed his absurd potential earlier this season, but he has yet to develop any sort of consistency.

I'd say Week 13 would be a pretty good time for a breakthrough from the 27-year-old.

2. Which Raiders wide receiver steps up?

Renfrow had begun to forge a pretty integral role in the Raiders' aerial attack over the last several weeks, but now, he is sidelined with a rib injury, further thinning what was already a shallow Oakland receiving corps.

Outside of Tyrell Williams, Derek Carr doesn't really have any reliable wide outs to throw to. Zay Jones has been a non-factor since arriving via trade from Buffalo, and no other receivers on the roster have even caught 10 balls this season.

But with Renfrow out, someone must fill the void and provide Carr with a stable option outside of Williams and Waller on Sunday.

1. The health of Tyreek Hill

Tyreek Hill left his team's win over the Los Angeles Chargers back on Nov. 18 due to a hamstring strain. The Chiefs had a bye last week, so he was able to get some extra rest, and he did fully participate in practice on Friday.

Still, hamstrings are tricky, so you have to wonder if Hill will be 100 percent.

If he isn't, Kansas City's offense becomes a bit compromised and could allow the Raiders to keep the game closer than many would expect with a healthy Hill on the field.

Hill's health could be the ultimate X-factor in determining the outcome of this game.

Prediction: Chiefs by 10. Too much Patrick Mahomes, too much Arrowhead.
