The Los Angeles Rams are officially Super Bowl bound. With head coach Sean McVay and his Rams now on their way to Atlanta for Super Bowl LIII, the New Orleans Saints will be watching from home — yet again.

As a result of Sunday afternoon's win in New Orleans, the Rams have notably become the first road team to win a conference title game since all the way back in 2012, according to ESPN Stats and Info.

While Sunday's win on the road in the bayou will certainly have an asterisk next to it for years to come, the Rams did indeed win the game. With Los Angeles coming away with an overtime victory at the expense of head coach Sean Payton and the devastated Saints, the Rams continue to wait for an opponent as the New England Patriots, and Kansas City Chiefs are still battling it out at Arrowhead Stadium.

If the Patriots are victorious on the road, New England will obviously join Los Angeles in winning a conference title game on the road for the first time in seven long years. In 2012, both teams that reached the Super Bowl won on the road in order to reach the big game.

It is also worth noting that the Rams, who have now reached four Super Bowls in total, previously came up short against the Patriots the last time that the now Los Angeles-based NFC West franchise reached the NFL's championship game. The Patriots defeated the Rams in 2001 as the Rams last won the Super Bowl in 2000, thanks to an infamous one-yard victory over the Tennessee Titans.
