Heading into the second year under head coach Sean McVay, the Los Angeles Rams have added a few more pieces to the puzzle offensively to build off the breakout 2017 campaign.

One of which was veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks in a trade from the New England Patriots to give them another offensive weapon to replace the departure of Sammy Watkins via free agency. With that in mind, McVay has been quite encouraged by the budding connection between Cooks and Pro Bowl quarterback Jared Goff, according to Kirsten Lago of TheRams.com.

“I think you’ve just liked what you’ve seen overall,” head coach Sean McVay said. “He’s got a great rapport already with Jared, and he feels really good with the receiver group. I think he’s done a nice job kinda fitting into that room and really endearing himself to his teammates. We sure like him as coaches, too.”

Cooks is expected to play a big part in the offensive game plan this upcoming season due to his explosive playmaking ability in the passing game. The 24-year-old has plenty offer as he is currently one of two players currently in the league along with Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro wideout Antonio Brown, to have an active streak of three straight years with at least 1,000 receiving yards and seven touchdown receptions.

The strong connection between the two at this point in the offseason could bode well to what may come in the 2018 campaign where the Rams hope to be a more efficient offensive group that could look to test secondaries with a larger emphasis on making passes down the field with Cooks now in the fold.

These couple of months could be a solid indication of what's to come with the pairing of Goff and Cooks that could become a stable in the passing game for the long haul.
