Los Angeles Rams cornerback Marcus Peters made some headlines of the wrong kind after a video emerged of him getting into a verbal altercation with a fan during Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Rams head coach Sean McVay says he’s seen the footage of the incident and has already spoken with Peters about it.

“I saw the video. I got a chance to talk to Marcus,” McVay said per Curtis Crabtree of Pro Football Talk. “He knows that we’ve got to be better in those situations and can’t allow whatever is going on in terms of that dialogue to affect our ability to be focused on what is going on during the game and on the field with our team and how we can stay focused and concentrate on that. We had a good discussion and he knows that.

“I wanted to have an understanding of what was going on because all I saw was that video — not exclusive to everything else that might have taken place. He and I were able to have that. I like the way that he was able to communicate to me and I trust that when those situations, if they do arise in the future, that we’ll handle it differently.”

McVay added that he’s not sure if the league would get involved in terms of disciplining Peters. But as far as the Rams are concerned, the issue has been handled internally.

Peters has a history of having emotional outbursts dating back from his time with the Kansas City Chiefs. And perhaps the fact that the Rams have been stumbling for the past two games might have caused some frustration within Peters, which led to him going off at the fan.

But of course, players are still expected to behave themselves around fans. Hopefully, this will be Peters’ first and last offense of this nature in LA.
