Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay revealed that backup quarterback John Wolford was present in the locker room following the team's victory over the Seattle Seahawks. His injury appeared to be “trending in a positive direction,” per Greg Beacham of the Associated Press.

Initially placed in the starting lineup thanks to a lingering thumb injury to Jared Goff, Wolford was, in turn, knocked out of the match in the opening quarter by a hard hit from safety Jamal Adams.

Scrambling out of the pocket in an attempt to achieve a first-down, Wolford received a hit to the head by the lowered shoulder of Adams. While the officials threw a flag on the play and appeared set to call a personal foul penalty on Adams and the Seahawks, the refs would eventually pick up the penalty flag and explain that no foul had occurred since the QB had established himself as a runner.

With trainers and medical staff gathered around him, Wolford was able to leave the field under his own power, though he quickly entered an ambulance to be taken to a local hospital.

In his absence, the Rams placed the injured Goff into the game, who was able to lead them to an upset victory over Seattle despite his clear limitations. Given that Goff's thumb is not likely to be fully healed by next week, there does remain a possibility that Wolford sees some action in the divisional round should he be cleared of the league's concussion protocol.

That, however, will be a discussion for another day. With the Rams having earned the victory and Wolford appearing on his way to recovery, Los Angeles seems to have a lot to celebrate in the meantime.
