Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay knew the first time that he saw Jared Goff that he was a quarterback he could have a lot of success with. After some struggles under ex-coach Jeff Fisher, the team made a coaching change bringing in Goff, and it has been a lot of success since then.
“I would say it’s been an ongoing thing. I felt very confident and excited about the opportunity to work with him (Goff) from when I just met him the first time. For a lot of the things that I was mentioning, when you’re mentally tough like that, when you have the natural inclination to look inward, before you look to blame anybody else, I think that sets you up for success.
McVay has done a good of creating an offense that plays to Goff's strength and without the two guys together, who knows if Goff would have been offered the four-year extension.
So far in his career, Goff has a 24-14 record and has been named to a couple of Pro Bowls. Last season he led the Rams to the Super Bowl but did struggle in that game, and it's something that has motivated him coming into the season.
Goff has passed for 9,581 yards, 65 touchdowns, 26 interceptions while completing a little over 62% of his throws. With more big money comes more pressure to perform, but Coach McVay will have him focused on the prize, getting back to the Super Bowl and this time coming out with a victory.
