Maybe Bill Belichick isn't some cold-hearted monster after all.
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay told Peter King of NBC's Football Morning in America that the New England Patriots coach texted him after every game this season:

After we beat Minnesota in September, he texted, ‘Man, you guys are really explosive and impressive and fun to watch. Congratulations—keep it rolling.’
“For him to even take the time to say congrats, it’s pretty cool. That’s one of the things I like about our business, our fraternity of coaches. As competitive as it is, guys find time to share when they can. I’m still young, still figuring it out. That stuff’s been really helpful to me.”
That has to feel good for McVay, who is now becoming the gold standard for young coaches in the NFL.
While Belichick is still the king of football coaches overall, McVay could very well take his place once Belichick retires. After all, McVay is just 33 years old and has led the Rams to the Super Bowl in his second season.
McVay is so highly thought of around the league that teams that were in search of new head coaches were looking for the “next Sean McVay,” as evidenced by the Green Bay Packers hiring Matt LaFleur, McVay's offensive coordinator last season.
