Greg Zuerlein had the chance to become the hero for the Los Angeles Rams when the team was only behind one point in the game's dying embers. All he had to do was hit the 44-yard FG attempt and they squeak past a strong Seattle Seahawks team.
However, he didn't make the kick. The shattering of Rams hearts can be heard all over the West Coast after the disappointing play. It would be understandable if some fans couldn't forgive him for making a mistake during such a vital situation.
However, Rams head coach Sean McVay would be the last person to blame Zuerlein for the loss. In fact, he will still pick Zuerlein as the first-choice kicker for the Rams moving forward.
Per Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith:
“He just missed it. We have a lot of confidence in Greg. It’s one kick,” McVay said. “He’s made a lot of big kicks for us. He’s going to continue to make a lot of big kicks for us.”
QB1 Jared Goff also supported him, saying that their narrow loss wasn't due to Zuerlein's missed kick.

Zuerlein blamed his failure on his poor swing.
Fans will remember that Zuerlein won them the NFC championship game after a 57-yard field goal. He also converted a 47-yard attempt during the game's first quarter.
It's not rare for even the best kickers to make mistakes at the clutch. All McVay asks from the fans is understanding.
