Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley has never been shy about expressing his opinion on a number of issues related to the NFL. It seems he is not the biggest fan of Thursday Night Football.
The Rams just put the stamp on a stellar victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Gurley made it clear that he is not looking forward to the quick turnaround versus the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, via Jarrett Bell of USA Today:
Gurley's comments should come as no surprise. The Rams star has always been pro-player when it comes to certain conflicts that have risen in the NFL as of late. It is safe to say that he is not too happy that it has finally affected him personally.
Gurley is not the only one to speak out against football during the week. The majority of players feel the same way he does. Playing two games within a span of five days is never ideal for athletes that play such a physical sport. Not only do they feel the shortened week puts them at further risk of injury, but the product of the game is not very good due to the lack of preparation.
A workhorse like Gurley needs all the time he can get to recover in between games as the season goes on. It certainly does not help that he will be squaring off against a formidable Vikings' defense. However, it does not appear as though the NFL will relinquish these games any time soon. Last week's matchup between the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets was one of the most-viewed games since it started.
