Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley had his most productive game of the season on Sunday night, rushing for 97 yards and a touchdown while also catching three passes for 36 yards.

Gurley accrued 28 touches overall, by far his most of the year, and while he only averaged 3.9 yards per carry, the fact that he was able to take on such a heavy workload had to feel good in what ended up being a 17-7 win over the Chicago Bears.

Afterwards, Gurley said he was feeling like his old self:

“I guess I felt like the old Todd,” Gurley said, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “But it was cool, man. I’m just happy I was able to go out there and take advantage of my opportunities.”

Opportunities are something that the 25-year-old has not had a whole lot of this season.

Prior to Sunday evening, Gurley had not amassed 20 carries in any individual game in 2019, and in the preceding couple of weeks, he had totaled just 22 touches overall, all of them coming on the ground.

On the season, Gurley has rushed for 525 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 4.1 yards per attempt. Obviously, those numbers are still a far cry to what we are accustomed to seeing from the three-time Pro Bowler, but perhaps Week 11 was the start of a turnaround.

The Rams improved to 6-4 with their win over the Bears and will take on the Baltimore Ravens in a pivotal Monday night matchup in Week 12. Los Angeles desperately needs another victory to keep its playoff hopes alive.
