The Los Angeles Rams missed the playoffs in 2019 after making a Super Bowl run in 2018. It was a very disappointing followup for the franchise, with Sean McVay realizing change may be needed. Among those changes could be the trade of star running back Todd Gurley.

That's right, Gurley could be on the trade block. Michael Silver of the NFL Network reported on Monday afternoon that Gurley could be available via trade. If that is the case, there are going to be quite a few teams lining up with interest in signing him.

Todd Gurley is still viewed as an elite running back despite the down season he had in 2019. Some are worried about the knee issues that have bothered him since late in the 2018 season. However, others don't see those issues as a big deal and would still be interested in trading for him if he is legitimate available.

During the 2019 season with the Rams, Gurley carried the football 223 times for 857 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also caught 31 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers aren't shabby.

All of that being said, let's dive in and take a look at three teams who should strongly consider pursuing a trade for Gurley this offseason.

3. Atlanta Falcons

Following the move to release Devonta Freeman, the Falcons are going to be searching for a new running back. Gurley would be an ideal option for them. He would give them star power and would take a ton of pressure off of Matt Ryan, assuming he is healthy.

Dan Quinn is firmly on the hot seat in Atlanta, as is general manager Thomas Dimitroff. Going out and acquiring a star like Todd Gurley would make a lot of sense as they try to save their jobs.

2. Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are in the market for a running back this offseason. They have already made a few big moves in free agency, signing both cornerback Byron Jones and pass rusher Shaq Lawson so far. Following those moves, they also went out and brought in former Patriots' linebacker Kyle Van Noy on a big deal.

Why should Miami not continue to be aggressive? Acquiring Todd Gurley would give them a workhorse running back who also could help take pressure off of the young quarterback the Dolphins are widely expected to take in the 2020 NFL Draft. This landing spot would seem like a logical fit.

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Most intriguingly, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be a trade destination for Gurley. As they are in the middle of a pursuit of Tom Brady, going out and acquiring Gurley could be the move that locks up the superstar quarterback. Bringing in a star running back would definitely intrigue Brady.

Tampa Bay has been needing a running back for years now. Bruce Arians is looking to completely rebuild his offense. Brady and Todd Gurley would be a massive upgrade from the Jameis Winston and Peyton Barber/Ronald Jones situation they had in 2019.
