The Miami Dolphins have been on a hot streak over the past few weeks. Amid all the health concerns brought about by injuries and COVID-19, the team has managed to slowly figure things out as they're poised to make their first trip back to the postseason since 2016.
Their next game, though, is arguably their toughest task yet as they will host the defending champions Kansas City Chiefs, who have been on a tear for the entire 2020 campaign. Ahead of this crucial encounter with the Chiefs, head coach Brian Flores jokingly asked for a rule change to help his Dolphins even things out against the champs.
“I wish we could have 14 defenders. That’d be nice,” Flores laughingly said (via NBC Sports).
Having three more defenders out there could definitely increase the Dolphins' chances, but with how Patrick Mahomes and his offensive line have been running things for the Chiefs, this unfair advantage might not even secure a W for Miami.
“They’ve got a little bit of a killer instinct. [Patrick] Mahomes has got it. [Travis] Kelce’s got it. [Tyrann] Mathieu, defensively, [Chris] Jones. When they smell blood in the water, they go after you,” Flores added.
Flores' problems doesn't stop with these four stars. Looking at the very potent Chiefs line-up, the threats for opposing squads just continue to stack up.
“Who do you want to put on [Sammy] Watkins? Who do you want to put on Mecole Hardman?” the Dolphins coach furthered. “Who do you want to put on [Demarcus] Robinson? We’ve got to handle the backs, too. [Clyde Edwards-]Helaire’s a good back; Le'Veon Bell’s not a slouch, either.”
