As the 100th NFL season is winding down, the league continues to reveal which among its treasure trove of players and coaches are included. Fans of the Miami Dolphins naturally expected the legendary Don Shula to be at the top of the list for coaches.

The NFL talked about the latest coaches who are included in the shortlist. New England Patriots head coach and fellow nominee Bill All-Time Team nominee Bill Belichick talked about Coach Shula's impact on the game as the mastermind behind the success of the Dolphins and Baltimore Colts.

“I remember Coach Shula, I would watch Coach Shula's TV show every week with the Baltimore Colts… Corraling the Colts is the show. I always looked forward to Coach Shula's breakdowns and interviews with the star players there. I think Coach Shula set the standard for all of us that followed. Three hundred and forty-seven wins, that says it all.”

The amount of lip service Belichick gave Shula is totally understandable. He knows more than anyone how hard it is to play high-quality football year in and year out. For him to be able to achieve success for a long time with the Dolphins is a testament to his coaching acumen and a knack for coming up with outstanding tactics to win football games.

Shula spent the first seven years of his career with the Baltimore Colts where he won the NFL championship in 1968. He then spent the rest of his Hall of Fame career with the Miami Dolphins, where he became a two-time Super Bowl winner in the process of notching 257 regular-season games.

Many Dolphins fans will swear by Shula and promise to riot if he doesn't make the final cut. Given his credentials, it's hard to argue against him.
