The Miami Dolphins already had reason to feel optimistic coming into the 2021 season.

Brian Flores led his team to a 10-6 record in his second season as head coach. The Dolphins have a young roster with a potential franchise quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa and an excellent group in the secondary.

They also possess tremendous draft capital in the next few seasons. Adam Schefter tweeted out a graphic showing some of Miami's picks in the next three drafts, which include five first-rounders.

General manager Chris Grier got quite busy on Friday morning.

Grier traded the No. 3 overall pick — which the Dolphins originally obtained via the Houston Texans in the Laremy Tunsil trade — to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for the No. 12 selection, multiple firsts and a 2022 third-round pick.

But Miami then pivoted. The club traded the No. 12 (via SF) and a 2022 first-round choice to the Philadelphia Eagles in order to move back up the board to No. 6 overall.

In essence, the Dolphins manifested numerous extra picks from just moving back three spots. That is quite impressive from Grier and Co.

Now, Miami is in position to get a ton of top talent and keep building on a young and improving roster. The Dolphins figure to start by drafting one of the top pass-catching options with the sixth overall pick.

There is a distinct possibility four quarterbacks could go in the first four picks. The Cincinnati Bengals might be tempted to improve the skill positions, or they could take someone like Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell.

Either way, the Dolphins will have plenty of options to choose from in a stacked receiver class.
