The Miami Dolphins recently fired head coach Adam Gase after three seasons. Gase led the Dolphins to one playoff appearance back in 2016, but they suffered a brutal 30-12 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Dolphins are now looking to fill their head coach vacancy and it appears they have their eyes fixed on New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.

Allen has been fantastic as the team's defensive play caller since 2015 and turned them into one of the league's top units last season. While the secondary struggled mightily this season, the Saints run defense was arguably the best in the league from start to finish. Cameron Jordan, Marcus Davenport, and Sheldon Rankins have been a nightmare unit for opposing offenses this season.

Allen also turned young defensive backs such as Marshon Lattimore and P.J. Williams into some of the brightest and most promising talents in the NFL. If the Dolphins are looking to go with a defensive approach and center their focus on being more of a defensive-minded team, then Allen is a fantastic option for the Dolphins.

Dennis Allen had one head coaching job back with the Oakland Raiders from 2012-2014, but unfortunately the team had very minimal success during his time in the Bay Area. Allen was 8-28 with the Raiders before he was fired in 2014 after just four games.

Allen has since transformed into one of the more talented football minds in the league. The Dolphins may be on the brink of turning their misfortunes around if Allen is given the opportunity.
