Despite being the fifth overall pick by the Miami Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft, there's a chance that Tua Tagovailoa might be benched behind veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. While this might be bothersome to up and comers like Tagavailoa, the 22-year-old trusts in whatever the team decides on.

Per Nick Kosko of 247 Sports, Tagovailoa shared his mindset on possibly being the Dolphins' reserve QB behind Fitzpatrick. For him, it's all about the team.

“I think our coaches are going to put the best 11 players out there,” Tagovailoa said. “Whether I am in that lineup or not, they have done enough evaluation throughout the week and month to lead up to that game. In that regard, I know they are going to put the best out there.”

While it's still a matter of wait-and-see, there's a great gut feel for Palm Beach Post reporter Joe Schad that Fitzpatrick will indeed lock-in that starting spot for the Dolphins. His experience and relationship with the coaching staff are his great assets.

“It's going to be Ryan Fitzpatrick barring something totally unforeseen,” Schad said. “You have to understand that head coach Brian Flores cherishes Ryan Fitzpatrick. He admires Ryan Fitzpatrick. He views the veteran as not just the leader of the team but essentially his assistant head coach. When you keep in mind that Ryan Fitzpatrick has played in incoming offensive coordinator Chan Gailey’s offense, the fact that Tua obviously has not.”

Tagovailoa and Dolphins fans might have to wait for a season or two before the young gun finally gets his shot. Be as it may, sitting behind Fitzpatrick will be a great learning experience.
