Minnesota Vikings safety Anthony Harris has signed his franchise tender with the team, per ESPN's Courtney Cronin.
Cronin added the team is still hoping to reach a long-term extension with Harris ahead of the July 15 deadline.
Next order of business is the Vikings working out a long-term deal with Harris. They have until July 15 at 3 PM. So, there's still quite a bit of time. https://t.co/t2DqZ7nZPT

Harris will be paid in excess of $11 million should the two sides fail to reach an agreement on an extension.
It was previously reported Harris was in “no rush” to sign the tender in the hopes of inking an extension. However, this might be a show of good faith between the two sides, with the idea being they will eventually reach a long-term deal.
Harris tied for the most interceptions in football last season (six) and also notched 11 passes defended. He also picked off New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees during the Vikings' Wild Card win over the Saints.

Harris said Friday on SiriusXM NFL Radio (via Grant Gordon of NFL.com) he'd prefer to remain in Minnesota if all other factors were the same.
“Yeah, if all things were equal—looking at the organization from a standpoint top to bottom, from the owners down to the coaches down to the locker room and the culture they have. It's somewhere I'd definitely like to stay,” he said. “I love Minneapolis, love the organization; it's a good city. The people there are really nice. It's very competitive, so I mean it has everything I want, and I'd definitely like to stay if possible.”
The Vikings sustained a number of losses in the secondary, with Trae Waynes, Mackensie Alexander and Xavier Rhodes all departing in free agency.
It seems likely Minnesota will look to reach a new agreement with Harris, whose 93.5 coverage grade ranks first among safeties since 2018.
