The Minnesota Vikings did not waste much making drastic moves shortly after missing the playoffs, as they fired both head coach Mike Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman in a clear attempt at changing the direction of the franchise.
The Vikings are currently in search of individuals to replace the positions vacated by Zimmer and Spielman, and through that process, they appear to be on the verge of making history, as they are set to interview Philadelphia Eagles executive Catherine Raiche, per Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post.
Moreover, Mike Garofolo of the NFL Network reported that this is believed to be the first time in NFL history that a team is interviewing a woman.
Good story here from Ryan providing context to Catherine Raiche receiving what is believed to be the first GM interview request for a woman in NFL history. (Susan Tose Spencer served as #Eagles GM 1983-85 after being promoted by her father, team owner Leonard Tose.)
Raiche joined the Eagles in 2019 and was promoted to the position of Vice President of Football Operations two years later. Before landing a job in an NFL front office, she served as a coordinator of football administration in the Canadian Football League for the Montreal Alouettes and the Toronto Argonauts.
The Vikings finished their 2021 NFL season with an 8-9 record, good for only second in the NFC North.
